  3. I find it helpful to take pictures at different stages of the painting process. A photo puts distance between me and the painting and helps me view it more objectively. Photos can point out mistakes in drawing, colour and tone that I may not notice on the canvas. Fresh eyes. Sequence photos can also make you realize that you've taken a painting too far, added too much detail and lost the looseness of good underpainting.

  4. Recently returned from a nice vacation in Thailand. Miss the sun and the beach but it's time I get to work on some pieces for my upcoming show.

  5. Small painting of downtown Vancouver. Painted from a bad reference photo which forced me to be looser than I might normally have been. Might paint from bad photos more often.

  6. Some paintings of Fernie from last winter. Available at The Green Petal in downtown fernie.

I've been wanting to do  cityscape with muted colours lately, a lot of greys, focusing on subtle tones....it didn't happen.

  9. This is the last illustration I did for Banshee Bikes that is to appear as an ad in an upcoming issue of Bike Magazine (I think). Or a past issue...although I have a subscription I haven't gotten an issue for a couple months....
